A £4 eyeshadow palette that is ACTUALLY good..

I was having a little browse in Superdrug the other day (again I know, oops) and I spotted these, I have heard of Makeup Revolution before, however I didn't know that they were SO cheap. Both these palettes were only £4 each! Because they were so cheap I couldn't resist getting two, one which is made up of mainly matte shades and another which has similar colours but slightly more glitter. I don't tend to have too many matte eyeshadows so I thought that this would be a good purchase and I got the glittery one just because I had to.

Now because they were so cheap, I wasn't expecting much from them however they did surprise me with how good they were. They are quite pigmented and they do tend to last for a long time, obviously using an eyeshadow primer will help. I've actually had more expensive eyeshadows which haven't lasted as long as these.

If you're looking to expand your eyeshadow collection, buying for someone younger or as a gift then I would recommend these as they're cheap, cheerful and are really nice to use and experiment with. There was actually quite a range of colours, mattes and shimmers to choose from as well so there's something to suit everyone.

Glossybox - February | Valentine's Special and My Last Box

Because this is the Valentine's special I thought that it would be a good idea to put this post live on Valentine's Day, I normally put these posts up at the end of the month so enjoy having it early! I think that personally, this has been my favourite box that we've had for months. I really like the curation of the whole box, whoever put it together did well. I also like the design, it's not too "fluffy and girly" in my eyes. 

L'Eau de Rose
This is definitely the stand out product for me. Glossybox actually sent an email with a "sneak peak" and I of course looked so I did know that we were getting a perfume which I was really excited about, I didn't know that it was going to be full sized though! I thought we must be getting a travel size or roller ball. I love sweet smelling perfumes, and this is definitely very girly and sweet. Now I am terrible at describing scents however with rose, I think that people generally think of an old, powdery type of scent but this is SO lovely. I think it's very fresh as well. It comes in a very simple glass bottle which I love AND it's only £20! I think that this is something that I will definitely be repurchasing in the future. I think this could also make a lovely present for someone.

Noir Eternue Youth Potion Face Scrub
Another excellent product in this months box is this mask. The packaging is a little confusing and very colourful and french, but it's basically a mask/scrub which you can apply all over your face, you can either just use it to exfoliate straight away or leave it for around two minutes first. The cool thing about it is it will actually change colour from a light pink to a purple/grey. It works so well at removing any dead skin cells and really scrubbing everything, although I do think that if you have sensitive skin, this could be a little harsh. It's also 90% natural, paragon free AND vegan.

Ultimate Blends Honey Treasures Strength Restorer Balm
This is basically a free sample of Garnier's ultimate blends honey hair mask. I have actually used this already however I did think this was a shampoo at first as I didn't really read the packaging before putting it in my hair! It did work well and left my hair really soft and smooth. I think that this could be a really good affordable hair mask however I personally try to avoid things with honey in them.

Ciaté Paint Pot in Iced Frappe
I've used nail varnish from Ciaté before and they do not disappoint. I really like that nudes are having a moment, they are the "in" colour and don't seem to be going anywhere. As I have mentioned before (tons of times probably!) I have acrylics so won't be using this on my nails, although I think it's the perfect nude shade. Some brands get these colours a bit wrong and end up making them WAY too pale, but this kind of colour would look good on many different skin tones.

Beat The Blues highlighter - Oyster Gold
Another stand out product for me, I did wonder at first before properly looking why they had sent two nail polishes! I am all about highlighter at the moment, it makes skin look so healthy and who doesn't like to look glowing? I do think that I probably look like a disco ball sometimes but oh well. I like that this highlighter is gold as I have quite a lot which are on the white side and I don't want to look like a ghost! Gold tones go really well with my skin tone. This has a brush which is a lot like a nail varnish brush which I'm not crazy about however the product itself is really pigmented and blends very nicely. I can see myself owning this (and using it!) for a really long time.

I think that this collection of products is soooo good and perfect for Valentine's Day! I loved everything in this box as it was such a treat however the three which I love (and will perhaps be repurchasing) is the mask, highlighter and perfume.

As I have put in the title, this will be my last Glossybox at the moment and to put it simply, I have chosen a new subscription box which I would like to receive instead. I'll be doing a proper long post on the new box soon (stay tuned!) and there is a variety of reasons, but the main one is that I'll be receiving cruelty-free/vegan items each month. I have loved getting my Glossbox through the post each month and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable treat.

Following on from my mini Sleek Haul, I wanted to share a few of the other bits which I picked up from Superdrug as I find these types of posts quite interesting. I think its quite hard to find affordable skincare which ACTUALLY WORKS and is cruelty-free. With this in mind, when I found  out that all of Superdrug's own skincare was cruelty-free and vegan where possible, I obviously wanted to try some out.

I picked up these three items because they are what I needed at the time and also because they looked quite interesting. Hyaluronic Acid seems to be the *in* ingredient at the moment as it seems to be in everything. Although saying that it is SO good for your skin. I picked up the facial spritz as I wanted something that wasn't going to be heavy, I especially like that I can use this whenever I want, before bed to give my face some added moisture or even when I have make-up on for a little freshen up.
I have noticed that I seem to have less dry skin on my face recently, which could be because of the hyaluronic acid and the moisturiser/serum which I picked up. I normally just use E45 on my face however I wanted to get a proper facial moisturiser and I think this has made a difference.

The last thing which I got was actually from the men's section. When it comes to skincare, women normally have floral or fruity ingredients and I have found this facial scrub to be quite a change from my normal products. I think that this really is a hidden gem, it works so well and makes your skin so much brighter.

Asos Edit | Beauty

I've wanted to do a little Asos Edit featuring beauty for a while now, I don't think people realise that you can buy beauty products on Asos! They offer so much and some really good brands which can be quite hard to get your hands on normally. I've only selected a few different brands which I would like to try, some I've heard of, some I haven't. 

Asos beauty really is a hidden gem. I especially like the photography which they have used for this section of their website as the images are not only really creative, but also show a lot of detail. They even take photos of swatches of the products which is so handy as you can see what it looks like on actual skin!

Much like my last post, I want to explore more cruelty free brands so all of these brands are such. 

Nars

Nars are one of those cult brands which I'm pretty sure most people would have heard of for good reason as they are a very high quality brand. They can seem quite pricey however I think that the price is justified for what you're getting. Their Velvet Matte Skin Tint is meant to be one of those base products which gives you coverage but is glowy and natural looking and could be my next base product when I start running low on foundation. Another stand out product from them is their Eyeshadow Duos, these come in a range of colours and are meant to be used together as the colours compliment each other. 

Models Own

This is another brand which I'm sure many people will know about as everyone went a bit crazy over their nail polish years ago (and I'm sure they still do). They continued to add to their brand and now offer everything from foundation to lipstick. I quite like the look of their cosmetics as everything is branded nicely, the packaging is clean and simple AND they try to make all their cosmetics vegan where possible. Their Runway Foundation is oil free, contains SPF and comes in eleven different shades! I also like that they've included a white as this could be a good mixer however I also think they should have included a dark shade as well. Another one of their products that looks really interesting is their "k-Kushion" Blusher, which is basically a liquid blusher which comes in three shades and is buildable. I think this could be a great product to have coming into Spring/Summer when everyone wants to wear less make-up but still have a natural flush. 

Lottie

Lottie or Lottie London is a seemingly new (to me) make-up brand which seem to offer come really interesting products at affordable prices. I've never really seen their stuff anywhere before however their branding looks really cool, very creative and reminds me a little of Topshop beauty but more fun? Anyway, they have some really stand out products, like their Pore Eraser Stick, which is basically a primer and comes in a easy twist stick. I also really like the look of their "get the look palette" in "selfie" which contains both eyeshadows AND blushers in both mattes and shimmers. This palette looks like it contains some really lovely colours which could work on many skin tones to give you that glowy look. I'm looking forward to trying their products in the future. 

Winky Lux 

Another brand which is new to me however after doing a bit of research it looks like their products are mainly sold in America. The first thing that strikes me is their name as it is very unusual but also memorable. On their own website they state that they are made from the highest quality ingredients possible and are also cruelty free, paragon free, phthalate free, non-toxic and heavily pigmented so well done Asos for stocking such a brand! The two products from them which I think look Really good are the Flower PH Balm  (which has a real chrysanthemum inside and reacts to skins PH levels and creates a perfect shade just for you) and their Diamond Powder , which could either be a foundation on its own (buildable) or a powder which you use lightly over foundation. This apparently illuminates the skin which is basically everything that I want in a powder. 

And thats my edit! Now obviously there is tons more products on Asos then just this but these are the brands that I am most interesting in purchasing. They also do higher end make-up and also skincare so I am might do another one of these edits in the future.

Sleek Make-up | A mini Haul

I have been a fan of Sleek make-up since about 2010 when I made it my mission to collect every single eyeshadow palette that they brought out. They make some really high quality affordable products and I think often they are overlooked as a brand. They seem like the perfect type of make-up brand for teen girls. The issue that I had was that they are only sold in Superdrug (or online) and there was no Superdrugs near me.. until recently (you can imagine my delight).

As I am trying to stay away from well known drugstore brands that test on animals (think Rimmel or Maybelline) and explore other brands of make-up that are cruelty-free or vegan (which Sleek are), I decided to pick up some products of theirs which I am currently running out of instead of going crazy and buying everything.

I picked up three of their products, one of them did the blogging rounds years ago which everyone had to get their hands on, the Blush in Rose gold. I have a love/hate relationship with blush as I just don't seem to apply it very well however I love the idea and look of it on other people. In the packaging this blush looks very red, which can be a bit off-putting to some however it goes on quite lightly with buildable colour if you desire. The nice thing about it is that it has gold flakes (hence the name) which make you look very glowy. I think that this is the type of colour to suit a lot of different skin tones.

I also picked up a "luminous" pressed powder which looks incredible glittery to me in person however it seems to have photographed quite well as you can't see the glitter. I thought that I had actually picked up a highlighter or had gotten the idea wrong but after looking on their website, this is aimed at being used all over your face. It even suggests that you can buy a shade lighter as a highlighter or darker as a bronzer which I actually think is a good idea. I haven't actually used this yet so I'm not sure just how glittery it is on the skin. I think perhaps what I might experiment with is using a normal powder all over my face and just putting this over certain places, almost like a highlighter (but I fully intend to use highlighter as well).

The last thing that I picked up is their Eyebrow Stylist which looks exactly like the same concept as ABH's Brow Wiz just with more simple packaging. I really want to change the way I do my eyebrows as I've been doing them the same way for years. I have tried this out, however I picked up the wrong colour which is wayyyy too light for me (but probably a good colour for blondes). I didn't actually realise there was only three colour options available otherwise I definitely would have gone for a darker colour. I do like the consistency of this, it's sort of waxy, not like a pencil or a powder. I might pick another one of these up but in a better colour for me to try out properly.
